Composed.

Considered.

Caryn Carruthers is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is shaped by attention, curiosity, and process. She spends time observing, and letting ideas form slowly, allowing the creative process to lead rather than forcing outcomes. Working across food, ceramics, photography, and writing, she treats each medium as a way of learning what she is trying to say. Her work reflects a belief that paying attention, and staying with the process, leads not just to better work, but to a more intentional way of living.

With a background in engineering and a lifelong instinct to build and create, her work lives at the intersection of structure and intuition. She is drawn to systems that simplify daily life, and to objects that elevate it—whether that’s a meal plan, a ceramic bowl, or a photograph.

Her first book, Smorgasbowl, introduced a flexible, bowl-based approach to cooking. Her current work expands the idea, exploring food as a system, a gathering tool, and a creative practice.

Across mediums, her work is grounded in process: iteration, attention, and the belief that what we make shapes how we live.
